Next class for introductory 'ukulele slack key is every Tuesday in February 5pm to 6pm at the East Hawaii Cultural Center, Hilo, Hawaii. Bring your own 'ukulele, tenor or baritone. Cost of tutorial book is $18. Send email to arts@ehcc.org for info.

Next beginner's level `ukulele slack key class starting Thurssday January 24, 2008. Starts at 4:30pm and ends at 6:00 pm. Goes for 5 weeks every thursday, same times. At East Hawaii Cultural Center, Hilo, Hawaii, Kalakaua Street in downtown Hilo. Pick up the book `Ukulele Slack Key at Basically Books Store. email arts@ehcc.org for information and registration. This class goes in cycles--following the beginner's level is the intermediate athen the advanced.

August 2007 Beginner's Workshop

Next 'ukulele slack key beginner's session starting August 16 and ends September 13, 2007. Every Thursday 4:30 - 6:00 p.m. at the East Hawaii Cultural Center (EHCC), 141 Kalakaua Street, Hilo, Hawaii. Limited to eight students. Bring your own `ukulele. Students should have access to the internet. Instructor is David "Uncle Dave" Heaukulani. Tutorial book is $10.00 and workshop fee is determined by EHCC (usually $45). Contact (808) 935-9085. Beginner's session covers the first four chapters of the 'Ukulele Slack Key book, i.e., history, tuning, basic chords in taro patch tuning, tablature sight reading, basic level picking, basic level techniques, and basic level music.
